MOBICOM IS PROVIDING MOBILE BROADBAND 3G TO MONGOLIA

Mongolian operator MobiCom has launched the first high-speed mobile broadband network in the country, powered by HSPA technology from Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC). The launch enables MobiCom to introduce mobile broadband services to its subscribers across Mongolia, starting in the capital Ulaanbaatar where about 40 percent of the country's 3 million inhabitants live.

Ericsson's leading HSPA technology provides fast data-transmission speeds, boosts network capacity and lowers response times for interactive services. The new HSPA-enabled network will allow MobiCom to offer a range of new services, such as high-speed mobile internet access, video telephony, multimedia messaging (MMS) and other innovative multimedia services related to e-health and e-commerce.
Under the contract, Ericsson is the sole supplier of the WCDMA/HSPA radio access network. It is also responsible for network deployment and a wide range of professional services, including systems integration of MobiCom's multi-vendor network, support and competence development.
Bolor Dorjnamjil, CEO of MobiCom Corporataion LLC, says: "This launch reflects MobiCom's continuous commitment to offering its subscribers the latest services and applications. MobiCom was the first operator to introduce mobile services in Mongolia and is now launching the country's first mobile broadband services. Ericsson's experience in 2G-3G network deployments and extensive support capacity make it the ideal partner for this project."
Jan Campbell, Head of Easter Europe and Central Asia, at Ericsson, says: "It is a great honor to be MobiCom's partner for this milestone launch of the first 3G network in the country. We are confident that mobile broadband services will further facilitate the development of world-class communications in Mongolia for the benefit of its people."
Ericsson's cooperation with MobiCom started in 2004 and includes contracts for GSM radio access and transmission.

Mobicom is providing - video call, - mobile broadband data connectivity, - mobile TV programms, - SMART service (visit special portal web pages, get many kinds of information and download all types of contents with high speed from your mobile phone) kind of services over 3.5G network.

BROADBAND WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY OF MONGOLIA

As of last year, there are 46,000 Internet subscribers, over 200,000 Internet users and over 80,000 households with a cable TV all over the country. The digital divide between the rural and urban area is very wide. The fiber optic cable along railway was already set in place and operational. This will serve as the main regional backbone traversing between Russia and China.
At present, Mongolians communicate locally and internationally using different telecommunication services, and they are: fixed line network (copper line and fiber optics), wireless communication (microwave links & cellular phones), VSAT (Intelsat and Intersputnik systems). Now in Mongolia almost 20 ISPs serving dial-up, dsl, adsl, xdsl, hdsl, fiber optic, wireless services in capital city of Ulaanbaatar and other small cities and the center of aimags.

Most of these companies have "A" license from CRC (Community Regulation Commission) which has availability to give citizens an INTERNET SERVICE in Ulaanbaatar, some of them already started their service in rural areas. There are only 7 of them have Broadband Wireless Service ( 802.11.a/b/g and 802.16 ).

Magicnet

Magicnet is the first company who implemented an Internet connectivity first in mongolia , this pioneer of Mongolian Internet Service Providers is founded in 1996. After succesful service for customers they have started their first Broadband Wireless Data Service in 2004 by the World leading BWA vendor Alvarion.
Magicnet is using Alvarion 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz solution BreezeACCESS VL system which is the most deployed wireless broadband platform in the world. This system can available to provide up to 6Mbps stable, robust, fixed connection via wireless.

Mobinet

Mobinet is a second big internet service provider in Mongolia.It has begun by Mongolian first mobile operator Mongolian-Japanese cooperated Mobicom corporation created their Internet service department in 2001. Now they have already 11 kind of services based on the internet connection such as high speed internet connection and web and mail hosting services. In 2005 they started their first portable and nomadic Wireless Broadband IP solution. Mobinet company is using United Kingdom and American incorporated company's 2G based solution IPwireless technology. Now they are giving 160kbsp upload/download speed for customers.

SkyC&C and MCScom

SkyC&C is branch of Mongolian second cellural and CDMA operator SkyTel company. This Korean-Mongolian cooperated company has established in 2001. The MCScom and SkyC&C both supplying Wireless Internet service by 802.11x.

Incomnet

Incomnet is one of the VSAT service provider in Mongolia, this company established in 2002 and started their Wireless Broadband service by 802.11a/b in 5.2-5.8Ghz frequency range. They are using Latvian famous wireless router vendor Mikrotek. They have already 9 Base Stations in Ulaanbaatar and 1 Base Station in Darkhan city. They can provide up to 54Mbps.

Wirelesscom

This company commenced in 2004. Their major service is only broadband wireless service. Wirelesscom provides up to 3Mbps speed by American Airspan vendor.

Ulusnet

Ulusnet is mongolian first WiMax service provider. This company also Mobicom company's one branch company. Company using also Airspan company products. Airspan's WiMax forum certified WiMax solution MacroMax is used for providing Ulaanbaatar to cover whole city via wireless. This company established in 2005 and succesfully and quickly developed WiMax in Mongolia, now they have as far as 200 clients using Nomadic and Fixed WiMax service because of their reliable and cheap solution.
